The Ministry of Praise
The Ministry of Praise is a ministry for those in the parish who because of health reasons cannot be active in other ministries. It is a spiritual ministry in which the members offer all their prayers, sacrifices, sufferings and joys to God. The parish, in turn is also praying for all of the members.
This ministry was begun in 1979 by Sr. Mary Charla, RSM, in order to unite the sick, homebound, disabled, and infirmed elderly into a body of prayerful people who would support their parishes and universal Church through their prayers. It is present in many parishes around the world. Those who choose to be a part of this ministry make a commitment to pray each day for the parish and for intentions which are mailed to them each month in a letter from the Pastor.
When you join, you will be commissioned privately in your home, or in the nursing home, or if possible in Church, by the Priest or Deacon, and will receive a Certificate of Membership, a cross to wear, and a beautiful prayer book which is a gift from the parish. There are no dues or meetings.
This is a great and important ministry because "The fervent prayer of a righteous person is very powerful" (James 5: 16).
