St. Vincent de Paul Society

The Society of St. Vincent de Paul aspires to “embrace the world in a network of charity”

Members of the Society of St. Vincent de Paul (Vincentians) are people who strive to grow spiritually by offering person-to-person service to individuals in need.  No matter our age, ethnic background, or financial status we are blessed with an awareness that our blessings (time, talent or treasure) are to be shared with our brothers and sisters in need.

The St. Mary Conference of St. Vincent de Paul offers tangible assistance to those in need on a person-to-person basis. It is this personalized involvement that makes the work of the Society unique. This aid may take the form of intervention, consulation, or often through direct dollar or in-kind service. An essential precept of the Society’s work is to provide help while  maintaining the confidentiality and dignity of those who are served. The Society recognizes that it must assume, also, a role of advocacy for those who are defenseless or voiceless.

Some 12 million persons are helped annually by Vincentians in the United States

Are You Called to be a SVdP Volunteer?

The St. Mary Conference of the Society of St. Vincent de Paul welcomes all who wish to live their faith by loving and serving the poor. Dedicated Vincentians are needed to visit families in need in their home, assisting them with their spiritual and physical needs.

Vincentians grow in their faith by seeing Christ in the faces of the poor, as He tells us, when we serve the least of His brethern we serve Him.

If you would like to volunteer we suggest you contact St. Mary SVdP at (224) 569-2100 or … to learn how you may discern whether you are called to join us in service to those in need through the St. Mary Conference of  St. Vincent de Paul please click here.

Area Vincentians including St. Mary Conference participate in the National Walk for the Poor

Members of St. Vincent De Paul ready themselves for an early morning walk in September.  The “Walk for the Poor” is an important event held in concert with SVdP conferences across the nation.

In addition to raising funds to support the charitable works of the Society, the Walk emphasizes the admonition of St. Vincent to serve as the voice of the poor, speaking for those who cannot speak for themselves.
