Mosaic of the resurrection of Jesus Christ

The back of St. Mary's illustrates a beautiful mosaic of the resurrection of Jesus Christ which reminds us that He defeated the power of sin and death by His own dying and rising. The mosaic also depicts the Trinity -- One God, three persons. This icon was written by Alexander Siderov, iconographer from the Franz Mayer Studio in Munich, Germany.

Assumption of Mary

As seen from the narthex in beautiful stained glass, is THE ASSUMPTION OF MARY, THE MOTHER OF GOD. "A great sign appeared in the sky, a woman clothed with the sun, with the moon under her feet, and on her head a crown of twelve stars."Rev 12:1. "The Most Blessed Virgin Mary, when the course of her earthly life was completed, was taken up body and soul into the glory of heaven, where she already shares in the glory of her Son's Resurrection, anticipating the resurrection of all members of his Body" (Catechism of the Catholic Church # 974).

Saints

All of our beautiful stained glass windows tell the stories of Catholic saints, who inspire us to this day. Most of these windows are vintage stained glass and date back to the early 1900s. Among them are St. Anne, Mother of the Blessed Virgin Mary, and grandmother of God, and St. Therese of Lisieux, who promoted her "little way" of holiness by continually offering her life to Jesus, Three of them, including the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary, were commissioned by us and designed and created by the Franz Mayer Studio in Munich, Germany to complement the vintage stained glass windows.

Holy Spirit skylight

This design is based upon the window of the Holy Spirit in St. Peter's Basilica, Rome. The light from this skylight shines down into the sanctuary during Mass, reminding us that it is the Holy Spirit who changes the bread and wine into Jesus Christ - Body, Blood, Soul and Divinity - during the consecration. This window was commissioned by us and was designed and created by the Franz Mayer Studio in Munich, Germany.

Altar

To the left and right are statues of the "pillars" of the Church, Peter and Paul, respectively. Behind the altar, are statues of the four evangelists: Matthew, Mark, Luke and John. In the middle, there is a statue of the Blessed Virgin Mary holding our Lord. Above the tabernacle, there is a crucifix depicting the Passion of our Lord Jesus Christ. The tabernacle, the dwelling place of our Eucharistic Lord, occupies the place of honor, front and center. Both the altar and the reredos were from the former Holy Nativity Convent in Fond du Lac, Wisconsin.

Sacred Heart of Jesus

On the west side of the church are the confessionals, statue of the Sacred Heart, and windows depicting St. Margaret Mary Alacoque receiving the vision of the Sacred Heart and St. Charles Borromeo giving First Holy Communion to St. Aloysius Gonzaga.

On an interesting note, our former pastor, Fr. Robert Garrity, who was pastor when this church was built, served at both St. Margaret Mary Parish in Algonquin and St. Charles Borromeo Parish in Hampshire, IL.

Blessed Virgin Mary

In the east transept, behind the rood screen in our devotional area, are statues of the Blessed Virgin Mary, St. Joseph with Jesus and St. Therese of Lisieux. The windows depict St. Claire driving off the Saracens with the Blessed Sacrament and the vision of St. Colette.

Organ

Our church organ is a Rodgers Model 960 which has a three manual console that includes the following:

  • A digital/pipe combination with Ruffatti pipes
  • 837 pipes (15 ranks) arranged in an extended "triple crown" configuration which is comparable to an organ containing 110 ranks of pipes
  • A Rogers PR-300S sequencer/354 voice sound module (Midi)

Narthex

Parishioners enter the church through the narthex, which is used as a "gathering area" that helps to remind us that we are in the presence of God. The Baptismal Font is placed near the door to remind us that it was through our Baptism that we entered into the Church.
