For Students in 6th, 7th, and 8th Grades

EDGE Nights are our main outreach to Junior High students in addition to serving as the Religious Education program at St. Mary’s for students in grades 6, 7, and 8. EDGE is offered in two sessions on Mondays; an early session from 5-6:15pm and a late session from 6:45-8:00pm. EDGE is a youth ministry program put out by Lifeteen International which we at St. Mary’s use as the basis of our teaching in order to form teens in the faith, build community among them, and help them encounter Jesus Christ. Registration for the 2018-2019 school year will be available starting July 16th.

The three main focuses of EDGE Nights are:

We strive for a renewed focus on teaching teens what it means to pray, and specifically what it means to worship. At our EDGE Nights, we will create an environment that is engaging and leads the teens into focused prayer in order to help guide them to a deep, lasting relationship with the Person of Jesus Christ and His Church.

Each week will feature a dynamic talk on a different topic related to our Catholic faith. The teens will then have time in small groups to break open the topic and let the small group leaders help them walk through how this topic applies to their lives.

We seek to build our community around the Good News of the Person of Christ and what it means to worship Him. Teens will gather with the same small group each week and journey with this group throughout the year.

Sample EDGE Night Schedule

5pm / 6:45pm (15 min) – Gather and Worship

5:15pm / 7pm (15 min) – Talk

5:30pm / 7:15pm (10 min) – Move to Classrooms

5:40pm / 7:25pm (25 min) – Small Group Discussion

6:05pm / 7:50pm (10 min) – Closing Prayer and Announcements

EDGE always begins and ends in the parish hall; students gather with the same small group each week in the parish hall, where we will do the teaching and large group portion of the night. After the large group time, the small groups have time in the classrooms to break open the topic and let the small group leaders help them walk through how this topic applies to their lives! At the end of each night, there will always be a time of prayer to help apply this topic directly to their relationship with God. We will always send home a summary of the night’s topic and main points so that parents can cover the material with the students that was missed so that they don’t fall behind in what we are discussing.

EDGE is offered twice each Monday; an early session from 5-6:15pm, and a late session from 6:45-8:00pm. This will allow the group to be a little more intimate, and will hopefully give options for anyone who has practice or other extracurriculars on Monday evenings.

One of the most important things to making EDGE dynamic and successful are the Core Team. These are adult small group leaders who come to each EDGE night and walk with their young people; they help these teens break open the faith, and walk with them on this path to discipleship. If you think you might be able to help, please check out the page below for information!

Registration will begin online on July 16, 2019.

Parent Meeting

Before the start of our year, we will be hosting informational meetings for parents. We ask that at least one parent from each family attend one of the two meeting options. The first option will be Monday, September 9th from 9:30-10:30am, and the second option will be Monday, September 9th from 7-8pm. Please note you only need to attend one of these two meetings, as the same information will be covered at both. At this meeting, we will give you an important overview of our program as well as our calendar for the year, and we look forward to meeting you!
