Awake, O Sleeper: Junior High Lock-IN | March 15-16, 2019

“The glory of God is an fully alive” – St. Irenaeus

What does it mean to be fully alive? Why do I have dreams for my life? Does God really want me to be happy? What does it sound like when God speaks to me? All these and more will be answered at our Jr. High Lock In themed “Awake, O Sleeper”. Come and see what it means for you that God has a vision for you life, and learn how to recognize His voice when He speaks to you.

A middle school overnight lock-in! This lock-in’s theme, “Awake, O Sleeper” will focus on realizing the dreams God has for our life: dreams for our abundant life, dreams to satisfy our desires, and dreams to fulfill our own.

Any 6th-8th grade student is invited to come. They do not have to be enrolled in EDGE and do not have to go to our parish, so bring your friends!

Friday, March 15th at 5:15pm until Saturday, March 16th at 12:00pm.

The lock-in will be held here at St. Mary’s (10307 Dundee Rd. Huntley, IL 60142).

Click the link below and follow the instructions to register. The cost is only $25, you don’t want to miss this!

We are excited to announce that we will be having gladiator jousting and an obstacle course in the Parish Hall after hours on Friday night as a part of the lock-in!

The lock-in will all be held here at St. Mary’s. Everyone should be dropped off and picked up at the parish hall. The basic layout is as follows:

  • Get dropped off outside the Parish hall between 5:00pm and 5:15pm on Friday, March 15th.
  • Get picked up at 12pm on Saturday, March 16th.

We will sleep on the floor in classrooms; see below for full packing list.

We need to have everyone fill out the online registration form for each event that is overnight or off-site, as per Diocesan policy. When you are finished with the online form, you will then need to print out the permission slip to sign and turn in. If you do not have a printer, let us know and we will be able to print the form for you, but only once you’ve done the online portion. The form and $25 fee need to be turned in by Tuesday, March 12th to the Youth Ministry Office. Checks can be made out to “St. Mary’s Youth Ministry”.

At this retreat we will have the following meals:

  • Dinner on Friday (Pizza or pasta)
  • Breakfast on Saturday (Waffles, breakfast meats, and more!)

If your teen has any allergies, dietary restrictions, etc., please be sure to note that on your liability and medical form as well as email us to let us know that so that we can accommodate them.

If your teen needs to take prescription medications (or non-prescription medications), please do the following:

  1. Put all their prescription meds in a ziploc bag.
  2. Select the link below to fill out a Prescription Medication Form, and also place that in the bag.
  3. When your teen arrives at the retreat center, they should turn in their meds to the adult at check-in.
  4. Your teen will need to come to the table in the back of the room to take their meds during the weekend. We will make announcements/reminders throughout the retreat and have an adult present to coordinate this.
